Marc's dad's surprise birthday party. It was also Bill Ryter (friend), Darrel Ellis (Uncle) and Charlie Pots (friend) birthdays so we sang to them all.

This past week we got to spend in Mancos Colorado where Marc grew up. We went to Mancos days and while we were there the school had it's 100 year celebration. Marc got to attend his 20th class reunion. That was fun to get to see some of the people he grew up with. It's not hard to remember them all, when he graduated with 26 people and half came to the reunion. They held the reunion at Echo Basin ranch. The kids swam and had lots of fun. Marc couldn't wait to show our kids places he loved to go and things he did when he was a kid. We hiked to sharks tooth, which is a high and long trail up above timberline, but the views were so pretty and the flowers were very tall. Brielle had to go to the bathroom while hiking but she could not go in the wild over a log until Marc found an old tree stump that was hollowed out and looked like a toilet. It was so funny.
The next day we drove over to Silveton and took the kids on a tour of an old silver and gold mine. It was was fun to go see, but I tried not think about how far under the mountain we were. The kids really wanted to find gold, but all we found were rocks.
The next day we went out to the 4 corners area. I and the kids had never been out there. The four corners is located on indian reservation lands. The indians had booths and the kids liked looking around at the different things for sale. The next day we went up LaPlata canyon and played by a stream. Afterwards we went to the Bar D chuckwagon dinner and show with Jared and Jaime and their family and Marc's mom. Zack really liked the show and Connor loved the train ride. The next weekend we had a suprise birthday party for Marc's dad who had flown in from Indiana. He was so surprised. we had surprised him earlier in the week with us being in town. Marc's dad and Debbie where going to Mancos for their summer vaction and were not going to be able to come up to Utah to see Marc or Jared, so Debbie got everything lined up for us all to be down there to see them. It was great. He had no idea that Marc, Jared and Jonathan were in town. We wish Joel could have come, but understand that he couldn't get away. It was a fun and a long week. We saw and did a lot of things. The part I think the kids liked the most was getting to run outside and play in the tree houses and not have Mom and Dad always bugging them. There was no one around us and nothing they could get into. The kids loved it. It was very peaceful, but I did not like the visit one night from a bear that knocked the bird feeders out of the trees and left a mess. After that happened I was a fraid to go after dark.
